NASHIK: Dhule in north Maharashtra has become the first district in the state to become Covid-free.
Dr Raghunath Bhoye, deputy director (Nashik division), state health department, told TOI on Tuesday that Dhule’s two active cases had recovered on Monday evening. “There are currently no active cases in the district,” he said.
It may be recalled that during the second wave, the municipal limits of Dhule had become Covid-free for a few days.
Dr Vishal Patil, Dhule’s Covid coordinator and RMO of the civil hospital, said 4,861 cases and just two deaths were reported in the district during the third wave. Most patients were in home isolation. The third wave that began from the second week of January was less severe than the previous two waves in the district.
Patil said 30,4000 cases and 387 deaths were reported during the first wave in Dhule and 15,400 cases and 285 deaths during the second.
