Dhiego Lima couldn’t believe how much it sucked he had split decision at UFC 243

MELBOURNE, Australia – Dhiego Lima beat Luke Jumeau with a split decision Saturday (Sunday locally) on the main card at UFC 243 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Take a look inside the fight with Lima, who has a three-fight winning streak for the first time since 2012-13.

Result: Dhiego Lima def. Luke Jumeau via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Updated records: Lima (15-7 MMA, 4-5 UFC), Jumeau (13-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC)
Key stat: Lima outstruck Jumeau 48-30 and landed both of the fight’s takedowns.

Lima on the fight’s key moment

“I’m more technical, but he had really good distance with his boxing. That’s why I went to the kicks. I was landing my kicks and had to keep throwing them. I kept jabbing to make him back up and kick him, because he had really good distance with his hands. I knew that coming in, but he still surprised me.”

Lima on settling for a split decision

“This is the most confident I’ve ever been before they announced a decision. Then they go and say 29-28 Luke and I’m like, ‘Come on!’ I’ve got to start finishing more fights. It sucked. I thought I clearly won.”

Lima on what he wants next

“We’ll see who’s next. I don’t know yet. I want to enjoy time with my family and kids. I’ll leave it in God’s hands. I don’t have anything planned yet.”
