NEW DELHI: The 12-member selection committee for the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, Arjuna, and Dronacharya awards will be chaired by retired Supreme Court judge Justice AM Khanwilkar, as announced by the sports ministry on Sunday.
Comprising six distinguished sports personalities, the committee includes the iconic former India hockey captain Dhanraj Pillay, Olympic boxer Akhil Kumar, accomplished shooter Shuma Shirur, and the eight-time national table tennis champion Kamlesh Mehta, who represents the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
The panel also features former Indian women's cricket captain Anjum Chopra, accomplished shuttler Trupti Murugunde, a member of Mission Olympic Cell, and Farman Basha from the Powerlifting Federation.
Media representation is provided by Abhishek Tripathi, sports editor of Danik Jagran, while the government officials on the committee include SAI DG Sandeep Pradhan, CEO of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme Pushpendra Garg, and Joint Secretary (MYAS) Prem Kumar Jha.
