DFDS Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry service suspended until June due to coronavirus crisis

The DFDS Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry service has been suspended until June.

The ferry, which sails from the North Shields port, has had to be temporarily halted due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The company says the suspension will now run up to and including June 3 at the earliest.

In a Facebook message to customers, Kasper Moos, vice president and head of passenger business, said: "Due to continued Government measures intended to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus, we will unfortunately now suspend sailings on our Amsterdam Newcastle service up to and including 3rd June.

"We fully understand the Government precautions have important health goals, and as our priority is to ensure the safety and health of our customers and crew, we have taken this difficult decision.

"To rebook, please email us on travel.sales@dfds.com. Bookings that have not been rebooked by Friday 15th May will automatically be cancelled and a travel credit issued.

"As our phone lines are currently very busy, we kindly ask you to email us with any queries on travel.sales@dfds.com or alternatively, visit our frequently asked questions here.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our valued passengers and we hope to see you again soon."

More information about the ferry service can be found on the DFDS website.
