Australia's department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is investigating reports an Australian has been killed in Lebanon.
Local media reports brothers Ali and Ibrahim Bazzi, and Ibrahim's wife Shorouq Hammoud died following an Israeli airstrike in the town of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.
AAP has been unable to independently verify the attack or circumstances of their deaths.
In a brief statement on Wednesday, the department said it was aware of reports of a death of an Australia citizen and was seeking confirmation.
Australian media Nine News reported Ms Hammoud recently gained an Australia visa and her husband was visiting her before the couple moved to Sydney.
Mr Bazzi moved to Australia in 2021 and his brother-in-law will now fly to Lebanon, according to the report.
Australia's Smartraveller website states there is a possibility of an increase in armed conflict in Lebanon that could affect wider parts of the country.
"Daily military action is occurring in southern Lebanon, including rocket and missile fire, as well as airstrikes," it states.
"The situation could escalate quickly."
The ABC said it had spoken to Ms Hammoud's cousin who said the family was numb.
"My family is devastated. My family is in disbelief," Mohamed Hammoud told the broadcaster.
"We were expecting to meet and greet them here and welcome her to Australia and now that's not to be…utter disbelief."
