Dez Bryant says he’s two weeks away from being ready to try out

Former New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has been transparent in his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered last year, sharing updates from his journey that started in a hospital bed after surgery and recently moved to a training facility. The latest word from the repeat Pro Bowler puts him on a timetable that’s still two weeks away from NFL tryouts.

It’s a setback for sure, considering Bryant previously said that he hoped for a mid-October return to the NFL. It’s unclear what’s delayed his recovery, but he’s obviously putting in the work.

Bryant wrote a post from his official Twitter account saying that he isn’t satisfied with a guaranteed starting job with his next team — he wants to be well-conditioned and ready to contribute.

He’s also said before that he wants to make his first call to New Orleans, to see if the Saints still have room for him, explaining that he feels he owes them and coach Sean Payton for having given him a shot after the Cowboys released him last year. Whether that’s still the plan is unclear, but it looks like we’ll find out in about two weeks.
