Dez Bryant says he’ll be ready to play in 2 weeks and the Steelers should pay attention

Right now, the Pittsburgh Steelers have more questions than answers at the wide receiver position. JuJu Smith-Schuster is nowhere near where he was last season, Diontae Johnson has flashed but remains inconsistent and James Washington looks solid when healthy. But after releasing Donte Moncrief, the Steelers are in need of a veteran presence who can be a reliable target downfield for quarterback Mason Rudolph.

The answer to this problem might be Dez Bryant. Bryant posted on Twitter on Wednesday he’s going to be reaching out to teams in two weeks and is just looking for a team he can contribute on, not specifically a starting spot.

The Steelers barely have three good wide receivers and they certainly don’t have four. If Bryant can still work the middle of the field — and there’s no reason to believe he can’t — what do the Steelers have to lose? He isn’t going to demand a huge salary and his attitude as he prepares to come back has been great. Pittsburgh is on a roll right now but the offense is still lagging behind. Signing Bryant for a playoff push makes sense.
