PATNA/GAYA: Hundreds of devotees from different parts of the country and abroad joined the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Baldev and Devi Subhadra, organized by the ISKCON temple in Patna on Friday.

The intrinsically decorated chariot accompanied by camels, elephants and horses moving with the musical band was pulled by devotees with devotion and festive fervour.

The yatra, which began with maha aarti performed in the presence of ISKCON temple construction committee chairman LN Poddar and temple head Krishna Kripa Das, was joined by a large number of passersby as a token of their reverence to the deities. The entire route from the ISKCON temple on Budh Marg to Taramandal, I-T roundabout, Dak Bungalow, Gandhi Maidan and Mahavir Mandir reverberated with devotional chants of Hare Krishna.

ISKCON temple spokesman Nand Gopal Das said the rath yatra enables people to have a darshan of their Lord.

Devotees gathered in large numbers to have a darshan of the idols of Lord Jagannath, Baldev and Subhadra during the Rath Yatra taken out from Sri Jagannath temple in Bodh Gaya and ISKCON temple in Gaya town. The yatra covered the thoroughfares of Gaya town and returned to the ISKCON temple, its president Jagdish Shyam Das said.

The Rath Yatra at Bodh Gaya was organized after a gap of two years. Tight security arrangements were made for the event.
