Devoted mum-of-two whose life 'revolves around kids' diagnosed with terminal brain tumour

A mother-of-two whose life "revolves around her kids" has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Sarah Peach, 33, from Mansfield, was told earlier this year that she had grade four glioblastoma, which is a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumour.

Sarah, who lives with her husband John Peach, 56, and their two children aged five and 11, had her whole world turned upside down in February. The carer, who has no history of any health difficulties, had just come back from dropping the kids off at school when she suddenly shouted for her husband in an extremely panicked way.

Mr Peach said: "She shouted me in a strange voice and I came down and the left hand side of her face had dropped - I immediately thought she was having a stroke. She was blue-lighted to Kings Mill [hospital] and I was told she had what is called a lesion growth on her brain."

Sarah was later diagnosed at Queen's Medical Centre after undergoing an operation. "Sarah broke down," he continued. "I just stood there in shock. It's something you don't want to believe - how can your life turn around like that? We have been together for 14 years and then something like this happens out of the blue. You just never know what's around the corner.

"Sarah was extremely upset - one of her main concerns was the children."

With Sarah's condition, anyone who lives for over three years after their diagnosis is labelled a "long term survivor" - most are expected to live between 12 to 18 months, with around 5% of patients living for longer. Sarah has two children Daniel Peach, 5, and Jason Peach, 11, who both have autism.

Describing Sarah, her husband John said: "She puts the kids before anything and anyone. Everything the kids have wanted, she has made sure they have got it. She is not a material person. Her whole life revolves around her kids and her family. She is a loving person, very sentimental as well."

Sarah's friends and family are now looking at raising money for her so she is able to "make memories" with her children as well as look at alternative treatments - so far over £700 of the £5,000 goal has been raised.

The gofundme page states: "I'm wanting to raise this money for Sarah and her family as I know she's been looking at alternative treatments and her wishes are to make as many memories as possible with her family.

"As Sarah is very aware the people with this condition have only lived 12 to 18 months with only 5% of people living past this time. I know the support off this would mean so much to my self, Sarah and her family."
