Devon spa hotel unveils plans for new £3m wellness development

A 16th Century manor hotel in Devon has unveiled plans for its new wellness rooms and suites.

Boringdon Hall in Plymouth has invested close to £3m into 12 wellness rooms, two wellness suites and an additional relaxation room and outdoor hot tubs.

The five-star hotel, which is owned by Philema Hospitality Management, hopes to offer a blend of elegance and tranquillity. The wellness development has been inspired by the manor's grounds and countryside location.

Laura Cameron, operations director, commented: “We wanted to carry the design and interiors from the spa through to the wellness rooms and suites to evoke a sense of calm and relaxation, drawing inspiration from the grounds. As they are nestled into the side of Dartmoor, we have pulled the colours and textures of nature into the rooms using natural materials and natural colours.”

Equipped with the expected hotel necessities such as robes and spa amenities from GAIA Skincare, the hotel’s new additions will offer an array of health and wellness amenities including yoga mats, mindful literature and wellness care kits aiding each guest to become grounded and present, alongside nutritious-led refreshments. The two wellness suites feature rain showers and private outdoor spa baths.

Conveniently located near Gaia Spa, guests can slowly wander and enjoy breakfast or brunch in the spa’s relaxed Spatisserie restaurant, which includes two outside terraces overlooking Dartmoor.

The new wellness rooms and suites are available to guests from August 18.

Last summer family-run Philema Hospitality Management rewarded its staff with a nearly £200,000 bonus pay out. The business said its staff had offered "great service" during the busy peak summer season amid the huge demand for UK staycations.
