Every prospect at the NFL combine has spent their entire life pursuing their dream of reaching the NFL, and they know that so much is on the line with every workout — especially the 40-yard dash.
Former LSU linebacker Devin White declared for the draft with a great shot of being selected in the top 10. A solid showing at the combine would only improve those hopes. So, when White ran the fastest linebacker time with a 4.42-second, 40-yard dash on Sunday, the LSU product was understandably emotional.
He couldn’t fight back the tears upon FaceTiming family with his name atop the linebacker leaderboard.
What a moment.
That kind of reaction puts into perspective the work that goes into draft preparation. White’s goal is to play in the NFL, and he realized — in that moment — just how close he is now to accomplishing that goal.
Those videos will never get old.
