Devin Hester's status with Ravens still up in the air after physical

Free-agent wide receiver and return specialist Devin Hester took a physical Friday with the Ravens, but there is still no clarity on whether he has been signed by the organization.

Coach John Harbaugh confirmed that the NFL's all-time leader in return touchdowns worked out with the team Friday and Saturday. But Harbaugh could not say whether Hester had been signed by general manager Ozzie Newsome to primarily handle returns this season.

"It is in Ozzie's hands right now, in terms of what Ozzie decides to do," Harbaugh said after Saturday's practice. "Of course, it will have an impact on our roster. It is a key spot, and there are a number of players that would be vying for that spot."

With the Ravens electing to cut Keenan Reynolds and waive Michael Campanaro with an injury designation after he had an MRI on Saturday for a calf strain that has hampered him in recent days, the team could turn to wide receiver Chris Moore, running back Terrance West or cornerback Tavon Young. But Hester, 33, is a four-time Pro Bowl selection as a returner and holds the NFL record for return touchdowns with 20 and punt return scores with 14.
