Devin Funchess says Cam Newton and Antonio Brown playing together would be fun

Devin Funchess announced on Twitter last week that he won’t be back with the Panthers in 2019. After four years in Charlotte, Funchess will become a free agent on March 13.

Who will replace Funchess as the new No. 1 wide receiver is a hot topic. Internally, the obvious candidates to bump are D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel. Externally, the big name is Antonio Brown, who is forcing a trade from the Steelers. Right now, there are three teams reported to be most intrigued and Carolina is not one of them. However, pairing Brown with Cam Newton is an undeniably alluring idea. Funchess has some thoughts on what that might look like.

According to Taylor Bisciotti at NFL Network, Funchess says Brown ending up in Carolina with Newton would be fun.

Costly and unlikely as a trade between Carolina and Pittsburgh might be, it’s hard not to imagine what the obvious chemistry between Newton and Brown might produce on the field.
