Devin Bush calling plays early at Steelers minicamp

It didn’t take long for new Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush to show his leadership skills to his new team. According to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, Bush took over the first rookie minicamp practice, calling the defenses. The former Wolverine wanted to be a vocal as he could, making sure the coaches understand he’s more than just an elite athlete.

There is going to be a ton of pressure on Bush to produce as a rookie. Pittsburgh made a big trade up to get Bush because he was one of the best all-around defenders in the draft. The Steelers are counting on Bush to be ready straight out of the gate, doing the types of things he did in college for the Steelers.

Bush looks to be the starter on the inside in the Steelers base 3-4 defense next to Vince Williams. The hope is Bush won’t have to come off the field on passing downs thanks to his athleticism and will provide Pittsburgh with something approaching the playmaking this team enjoyed with Ryan Shazier.
