The University of Kentucky held an alumni meeting Saturday night at Disney's Wide World of Sports.
The Miami Heat's guest list had two.
The Phoenix Suns had one _ but that also had happened to be the night's best former Wildcat.
With Devin Booker scoring 35, the Suns pushed past the Heat, 119-112, dropping the Heat into a tie for the No. 4 playoff seed in the Eastern Conference, only a half-game ahead of the No. 6 Philadelphia 76ers.
Playing with the absences of Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn, the Heat got quality production from their former Kentucky players, with rookie guard Tyler Herro finishing with his first career double-double, with 25 points, a career-high 10 assists and eight rebounds, and center Bam Adebayo contributing 18 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
But after going up 11 early, the Heat fell flat, falling to 2-3 in the NBA's resumption at Disney, with the Suns improving to 5-0 at Disney, amid their desperate push for a Western Conference playoff berth.
Butler missed his third consecutive game with a sore left foot, Dragic his second consecutive game with a sprained left ankle, and Nunn was away from the Disney bubble for personal reasons.
So even with 25 points from Duncan Robinson and 17 from Jae Crowder, there simply wasn't enough on a night the Suns got six 3-pointers and a season-high 20 points from Javon Carter.
An Andre Iguodala 3-pointer with 3:26 left drew the Heat within 105-102, after they fell behind by eight with 5:49 to play. The Heat later got within 115-112 after three Robinson free throws with 31.4 seconds left. But that's when an Adebayo goaltend with 11.2 seconds left provided the Suns with needed relief points.
