Netflix is set to bring the world of Capcom's beloved video game Devil May Cry to life through an exhilarating eight-episode anime series by the same name.
The streaming giant made the exciting announcement on their social media handles. The streamer has greenlit the project created by Adi Shankar, Castlevania series. The action-packed game revolves around the enigmatic demon hunter Dante.
The narrative of the animated adaptation will reportedly delve into the shadow forces conspiring to open a portal connecting the human and demon realms.
The series will follow the lone orphan as he makes a living as a demon hunter for hire, all while remaining oblivious to the pivotal role he plays in determining the fate of both worlds.
Fans took to social media to share their excitement about the new anime. Many noted how the character's look is accurate to the video game and includes his distinct hair, red coat, pendent, leather shoulder pads, gun harness. While the logo gives a glimpse of his sword, the 44-second teaser did not feature the character swinging his blade.
Since its release in 2001, the Devil May Cry video game has sold a staggering 30 million copies worldwide.
According to Deadline, Adi Shankar will serve as the showrunner for this thrilling project, and he will be joined by esteemed collaborators including Capcom's Hideaki Itsuno and Studio Mir's Seung Wook Lee as executive producers. The series will be penned by Alex Larsen.
