Devendra Fadnavis asks Maharashtra CM to ensure ST staff gets salary on time

MUMBAI: BJP leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday petitioned chief minister Uddhav Thackeray to provide a solution to problems faced by nearly a lakh employees of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

Following a death by suicide by a bus driver, who left behind a note that he was doing it due to “non-payment of salary”, Fadnavis said the government should ensure they are paid on time and they and their families do not have to undergo mental stress every month.

Kamlesh Bedse was attached to Sakri depot in Dhule district and police are conducting a probe based on the note.

ST union members protested outside depots on Monday morning.

MSRTC MD Shekhar Channe said workers will be paid as soon as it has been decided at a meeting at Mantralaya.
