Development of hundreds of new homes in East Kilbride growth area takes step forward

The development of hundreds of new homes as part of the East Kilbride Community Growth Area (EKCGA) has taken a step forward

As part of a detailed planning application Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has submitted an Approval of Matters specified in Conditions (MSC) application to South Lanarkshire Council.

Planning Permission in Principle has already been given for the 228 private new homes in the development of land off Jackton Road, on the western edge of East Kilbride.

Now Wimpey’s MSC planning application sets out its detailed proposals for housing mix, landscaping and building materials.

The proposals include a mix of two and three-bedroom terrace and semi-detached, as well as three and four-bedroom detached homes.

New roads are already under construction as part of the wider growth area masterplan with a new primary school and retail as well as thousands of new homes set to be built.

Taylor Wimpey say their development off Jackton Road will provide a range of economic benefits for the local area which includes supporting over 160 jobs per year of construction, as well as the attraction of new customers to local businesses.

Colin Blair, technical director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: "Our proposed development to deliver 228 new homes at Jackton forms a key part of the East Kilbride Community Growth Area, which was granted Planning Permission in Principle in October 2019, and we look forward to positive discussions with the local authority in order to progress this development."
