Plans have been submitted to build more homes in a West Lothian village.
The developers, Dundas Estates & Dev Co Ltd, had their application validated by West Lothian Council on Tuesday, March 16, and the proposal is now awaiting a decision.
They hope to build 40 new houses with associated infrastructure, drainage and landscape works on land at Pumpherston Road. Uphall Station.
The proposed new residential development is hoped to include six detached and 34 semi-detached properties if planning permission is granted.
The planning application contained an early objection from the public on the grounds that East Calder Wastewater Treatment Works already struggles with regular moderate to heavy rainfalls, leading to untreated sewage being discharged into the River Almond.
The latest development would be the third phase in Dundas Estates 266-home Uphall Station project.
The development, located just outside of Livingston, currently features one and two bedroom apartments plus three, four and five bedroom family homes.
Dundas Estates recently completed a dedicated £200,000 community building covering more than 900 square feet at the Uphall Station Village development.
The resident led development hub can be used for parent and toddler groups, exercise classes, or simply for milestone birthdays or events.
Dundas spokesperson, Janice Gemmell, said: “Housebuilders are often criticised for not giving much thought to the daily lives of the communities that move in.
“This couldn’t be further from the truth here. I can’t wait for this space to become fully available to the Uphall Station Village residents. It is a great way to build that spirit within the community.
“If this pandemic has taught us anything, it’s the importance of those human connections and looking out for one another.”
It is believed that sales at the Uphall Station development have already topped £16 million.
Separate plans were also submitted by Uphall Estates Ltd earlier in the year to West Lothian Council to build 200 homes nearby, with a park and ride facility, at Station road.
