Developers say there will be boats on West Lothian’s new canal marina by the end of the year.
Winchburgh Developments were also pleased to announce work will begin on the apartments overlooking the canal marina this month.
Construction work is currently ongoing on a second phase which will include further landscaping, as well as pontoons, moorings and a facilities building.
The team were speaking after the event to fill the marina back up with water.
A spokesperson for Winchburgh Developments took the time to thank the engineers and everyone who came along to watch the event.
They said: “Thank you all for attending in the rain, especially the pupils from Holy Family and Winchburgh Primary Schools.
“The faces which you may have seen on your canal walks over the last eight months have been the I & H Brown Ltd Team, led by Alex Mark and David Buchanan who have been responsible for building the marina. Also, our WDL design engineers from SWECO – Alastair, Emer and Tom.
“It has been an incredible piece of team work from so many people to bring this to fruition so we thank all who have been involved on this journey over several years for bringing the marina to this final construction stage.
“Scottish Canals will manage the marina long term, bringing the water to life, with water craft being seen in the marina hopefully later this year.”
