Developers plan to convert a West Lothian health centre into new shops.
West Lothian Council validated the planning application from ZA Properties Ltd on Friday July 2 to form eight now retail units at the old health centre on Ash Grove in Blackburn.
The plans show the eight units between Rowan Terrace and Ash Grove, will have an extended footpath built on site, with parking bays and a refuse collection area behind a screened fence.
Alterations to the former health centre will be required and they plan to have a food and drink shop, hot food takeaway, financial and and leisure premises.
No details are available on the planning application for any companies interested in renting the shops.
The proposal from ZA Properties Ltd reads: "Change of use, subdivision and alterations to former health centre to form 8 units for use as shops (Class 1), financial , professional & other services (Class 2), food & drink, hot foot takeaway (Class 3), business (Class 4), non-residential institutions (Class 10) and assembly & leisure, with associated parking (Class 11)."
The former medical centre in Blackburn has been shut for some time and an online listing shows a commercial estate agent offering the property for offers upwards of £125,000.
A statement on the page describes the building and says it would be suitable for a change of use to to “medical, dental or crèche”
It reads: “The site is directly adjacent to the town centre which contains a mixture of commercial, retail and residential dwellings in the immediate area with a large car parking area.
“The wider surrounding area is predominantly residential, mainly comprises two-storey dwellings with occasional tenement buildings extending to five-storeys in height.
“The property comprises a large single-storey former health clinic. Main access to the property is via double door entrance which opens into a large reception and waiting area.”
West Lothian Council will now consider the planning application.
