Developers invite locals to ribbon cutting at canal marina in West Lothian and ask they respect covid guidelines

People coming to the ribbon cutting at the canal marina in West Lothian tomorrow are asked to abide by Covid-19 regulations.

John Hamilton from Winchburgh Developments will join the CEO from Scottish Canals at 10:30am tomorrow (May 21) for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Shortly afterwards the first stop log will be removed allowing the water to flow into the marina.

Residents eager to see the process have all weekend to pop down because it will take a few days to fill the marina.

Winchburgh Developments say that children from the local schools will be in attendance tomorrow and ask that people respect Covid-19 guidelines around them.

A spokesperson for Winchburgh Developments said: “Please note if you are coming down we have the P7 pupils from the two primaries coming to watch and they will be on the canal side so please give them space and respect covid guidance around them.

“This is the first outdoor visit these pupils have had in 18 months so please help them enjoy this event and let them stand with their teachers along the canal.”

The canal marina will be overlooked by luxury apartments and locals will be able to sit by the water at restaurants and cafes.

Hard landscaping works still have to be completed before boats can come in and Scottish Canals take over the management of the marina later in the year.
