Developers drive forward plans for £7.5m apartments with Newcastle waterfront views

Developers have unveiled plans to regenerate a site overlooking the River Tyne through the creation of a new £7.5m apartment complex.

A&A Properties LLP, based in the West Midlands, is driving forward plans for the multi-storey residential scheme on derelict land off St Lawrence Road, close to the confluence of the Tyne and Ouseburn rivers.

Plans have been designed by McLundie Geddes Architects which would see see a mix of 50 one, two, three and four bedroomed apartments, in buildings of varying levels, with onsite parking.

The new scheme has been created to offer a greater choice to homeowners, particularly first-time buyers and families, and planning documents show that around 155 construction jobs would also be created if the plans are approved later this year.

The plans mark the culmination of months of work by Hexham planning specialist, Hedley Planning Services, which says the scheme would boost regional housing provision, contributing to the demand for quality housing across Newcastle.

The firm’s managing director Sean Hedley said: “Redevelopment of St Lawrence Road will unquestionably make a meaningful and significant contribution to the local and wider economy, both during the construction and long after families have moved in.

“As planners, we are always keen to see the green light for much needed, quality and sensible housing development.

“This project ticks all the boxes, and is sure to leave a long-lasting legacy, contributing significantly to an important part of Newcastle.”
