Developers circling Charlestown site owned by Central Leagues Club

RESIDENTIAL developers are among the buyers who have expressed interest in a large block in Charlestown.

Three properties being sold in one line at 2 - 6 Wales Street are set to go to auction on November 23 with listing agent Peter Shiels from Shiels and Co Property.

"It is three blocks with a total lot size of just over 1800 square metres," Mr Shiels said.

"We have had a lot of enquiry and we are looking around that $2 million-plus mark."

The 1800 square metre site is zoned for median density residential and backs on to Central Leagues Club. Picture supplied

The site is zoned for median density residential and backs on to Central Leagues Club, on Bula Street, who is the owner of all three sites.

CoreLogic records show Central Charlestown Leagues Club Ltd has held ownership of two of the properties for almost 30 years and the third since 2008.

"The club is doing some major improvements to the leagues club so that is the reason for the sale," the agent said.

Mr Shiels said the properties could be sold as individual sites, with multiple buyers enquiring about purchasing a single block.

"It is in a really sought-after location and it's a flat block so it will either be sold as a development site or as three individual sales," he said.

"We have interest from local developers and had a few Sydney based developers enquiring as well as residential purchasers."

Houses in Charlestown hold a median value of $855,000, according to CoreLogic.

Mr Shiels said the suburb was popular with young families and the Wales Street location was close to Charlestown East Public School and Whitebridge shopping village.

"Both the east and west sides of Charlestown are very desirable with buyers, the east side especially because it is so close to Dudley and Redhead beaches," he said.

"They are ultra popular with young families coming into the area."

The site will go to auction on November 23 at 5.30pm.
