Developer seeks €90 million from single landlord buyer for more than 280 apartments in Citywest

A developer is looking to avoid first-time buyers as they sell more than 280 apartments in Citywest to a single landlord for €90 million.

Cairn Homes have put the apartments, dubbed 'Citywest Quarter' for sale through Savills and Hooke and MacDonald.

Construction on the 282 apartment development began recently and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2021.

If the apartments sell for the €90 million figure, each unit will sell for just under €320,000.

Property prices in Dublin have decreased as new average cost of buying in the capital revealed in report

The Irish Times reports that Cairn chief executive Michael Stanley confirmed that they are aiming the sale of the property at institutional investors.

It would add to the thousands of apartments across Dublin that were bought to rent.

There are a further 170 units in the Citywest Quarter development that are expected to be sold to individuals.

Recently the UN criticised the Irish Government and accused it of allowing for the financialisation of housing.

They stated that a lack of protection for tenants and Irish tax laws facilitated the practice of selling bulk homes to investors - a practice it criticised.
