East End developer Iris Capital has revealed its plans for Elermore Vale's Shaft Tavern, after applying unsuccessfully to extend the pub's trading hours to 4am and re-applying to stay open until 2am.
The company's general manager Craig Hibbard said the renovation, expected to be completed by March, "signifies a new era" for the Shaft.
"We recognise the importance of developing a safe, family-focussed venue in the suburb to support community activities and sporting clubs," he said.

The renovation includes an upgrade of the hotel's facade and carpark, a children's playground, "high-tech" sports theatre screens, a refurbishment of the bistro and cafe and new menus.
Iris Capital bought the hotel in December and has re-applied to the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority to extend trading on weekdays and Saturdays to 2am and to midnight on Sunday, saying the new hours would cater for people who work irregular hours and aligns "with other venues in the area".
