Developer on quest for land to build new homes in Staffordshire after demand for properties soars

A developer has launched a quest for land in Staffordshire so it can build new homes.

Walton Homes - which recently completed a six-home development in Tattenhill near Burton - is on the look out for residential land opportunities after seeing the houses sell out in record time.

It wants to build on its success and create more high-spec homes across the county.

Walton Homes director Amy Summerton said that the appetite for homes throughout Staffordshire and Derbyshire had soared during the UK's three national lockdowns.

She said: "We have a long history of siting exclusive developments throughout Staffordshire, and those we have located on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border have proved extremely popular in recent years.

"If there is one thing we have learned from the coronavirus pandemic, it is that spending so much time confined to their homes has given people the chance to think about what they want from their property, be it to downsize to a smaller home with access to open countryside, or to look for a larger house with a bigger garden to enjoy.

"We have carried out extensive market research to assess the appetite for homes across the region, and there is no question that people are keen to combine the best of both worlds with an idyllic setting and convenient access links to amenities and busier towns and cities.

"While we have most recently announced developments further north in the Staffordshire Moorlands to fulfil those requirements, we are keen to meet the demand for quality homes throughout the county as a whole and we are looking for land parcels located close to popular towns or within semi-rural settings to help us do so.

"We have enjoyed great success with both our Copperfields development in Tatenhill and The Meadows at Stapenhill, and we're looking for similar sites within the area with a view to creating another exclusive development in due course."

Land owners with sites that may be suitable for residential development - with or without planning permission - are now being urged to contact Walton Homes.
