Developer Macbryde Homes starting work on Old Colwyn housing estate after land deal

A developer has completed the purchase of farmland in Old Colwyn for a 42 home housing project - with work set to start immediately.

Planning permission was secured last autumn for the site off Dolwen Road.

Now Macbryde Homes, based in St Aspah, says work is getting underway on the Parc Elian site after completing the land deal.

It is located opposite Macbryde’s existing Bryn Y Mor site which recently received the green light for its second phase to be developed.

Work there is due to start by the summer.

Gwyn Jones, managing director at Macbryde Homes, said: “With the purchase of this land now complete, we’re delighted to have started immediately with work on-site.

“These homes have been designed to appeal to a significant number of local purchasers and as we’ve seen on our other local developments, we anticipate that first-time buyers, young professionals and growing families will be particularly attracted to this site and expect interest to be strong.”

Twenty percent of the new homes will be designated as affordable and it is expected that the development will support numerous jobs in the local community.

The developer said it will also finance an on-site equipped play area and improvements to off-site open public space.

A financial contribution has also been made towards improvements to the local highways network.
