Devastating impact of criminal's gun shown in shooting video

A video shows the devastating impact when a loaded gun is fired.

The Walther .22 handgun was found after a man was stopped by armed police after being tracked around the back streets of Manchester.

After being tested by a forensic team at Waltham, the gun was test fired into gelatine which showed the bullets penetrating the gel to a depth of over six inches.

The video was released as part of proceedings at a Manchester court case related to gang activity, reported the MEN.

But it serves as a sobering warning for Merseyside where similar weapons have been used by criminals, sometimes with fatal results.

In the most recent incident, 26-year-old dad Patrick Boyle was shot twice in the chest in a street attack on Newway, just off East Prescot Road in Huyton on July 1.

He was believed to be alone in the street when he was shot in what police suspect was a targeted attack.

Shots were also fired in a Birkenhead residential street earlier this month, causing terrified neighbours to scatter.

And in a court case in Liverpool, it was revealed a drug dealer procured a Glock self-loading pistol - which he called "Lucy" - along with ammunition in case of "beef."

The Encrochat messages of Yousef Mohamed, of Selborne Street, Toxteth, were busted and last week he was jailed for 12-and-a-half years for the drugs and firearm offences.

And in June, police found a loaded handgun in Huyton during an open land search of the area following two recent shootings.
