Visitors to Scots beauty spots are being urged to use caution when visiting a devastating wildfire in the Cairngorms.
Emergency services were called to the Glenmore Forest Park, near Aviemore, on Saturday afternoon after the blaze broke out.
At least five fire appliances were sent to the scene in a bid to get the powerful flames under control as they ripped through the dry grass.
Plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the tree-line by onlookers who were enjoying the sunny weather at Loch Morlich.
Forest and Land Scotland have shared shocking images of the damaged woodland while reminding members of the public to take precautions.
They said: “Around seven hectares of forest (or seven football pitches) near Loch Morlich in the Cairngorms were damaged by a fire last weekend.
“The cause is unknown but we urge visitors to all our forests to take precautions to avoid starting a fire.
“Dispose of cigarettes and litter responsibly. Do not start campfires. Only use a barbeque where safe to do so, like a designated campsite.
“Follow advice in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and if you see a wildlife, call 999 and ask for the fire service.”
