Devastated pals of tragic Scots teen Callum 'Scrimmy' Scrimgeour plan balloon release memorial in Glasgow

Heartbroken pals of tragic Scots teen footballer Callum 'Scrimmy' Scrimgeour have organised a balloon release tribute after his sudden death at the weekend.

Friends and loved ones are set to gather near Pollok Park in Glasgow this afternoon (Wednesday) for the memorial event at 4pm.

The popular and talented 16-year-old died after falling from a bridge over the M77 motorway on Sunday evening.

Emergency services raced to the scene in the south side of Glasgow but the teenager tragically passed away.

Dozens of heartfelt tributes have been paid to the popular young man who was well known and loved in the football community.

Following his sudden passing, Palace Park Football Club paid their respects.

A statement read: "Yesterday we lost an amazing young man, a nicer guy you couldn’t meet who will be missed by everyone at the club.

"Callum’s ex team mates and friends are devastated. Our thoughts are with his family. There’s only one Scrimmy."

A relative added: “Well I am absolutely heartbroken I am writing this.

“Last night we lost my little cousin callum you where taken far too soon wee man I’m gonna miss you so so much I love you with all my heart wee man RIP love you bro.”

A fundraising page has also been launched to help support Scrimmy’s family at this horrific time and has already raised more than £3000.

A statement on the GoFundMe page read: “We are raising money for Callum’s family after the tragic news of his sudden passing.

“Callum was a best mate to so many people, he was so well loved by all of his friends and family. His death has been such a shock to everyone.

“We would like to share our condolences with the family and help in whatever way we can at such a difficult time.

“This page has been set up to offer some help and support to the family and show just how much Callum meant to everyone.”
