Devastated mum of missing Scot Corrie McKeague in birthday tribute as anniversary of disappearance looms

The devastated mum of missing Corrie McKeague has paid a touching birthday tribute to the RAF airman.

Shattered Nicola Urquhart shared a smiling picture of her and Corrie on social media as she celebrated her son's 28th birthday without him yesterday.

Next week marks the fifth year since Corrie, of Dunfermline in Fife, vanished on a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on September 24 2016.

The RAF Honington gunner was just 23 when he went missing and was believed to have fallen asleep inside a dumpster before being put into the back of a bin lorry.

But no trace of the popular Scot has even been found, with his devoted mum previously saying she does believe her son is dead.

Paying tribute to Corrie, Nicola told social media how her son filled ‘every single day with memories’

Nicola said: “I’ve been looking at so so many photos, I love the memories I have of all of them.

“This boy really did fill every single day with memories, I’m so very lucky he shared so many with me.

“There is nothing I wouldn’t do to have more.

“I wish beyond anything he was here to celebrate his 28th birthday.”

In another post, she added: “If only you were a call away Corrie.”

After Corrie went missing, a massive search - costing more than £2 million - was launched over an area that included two sweeps of a landfill site in Milton.

A grim discovery of bagged up human remains inside a river 17 miles from where Corrie was last seen sparked fresh hope amongst his friends and loved ones.

Suffolk Police were initially unable to rule out if the bones, which were found on August 27, belonged to Corrie.

But after a post mortem and extensive enquiries, police were eventually able to tell the McKeague family they were not his.
