Devastated family 'will never heal' after 'kind' teenager, 19, stabbed to death

A grieving family have been left devastated by the loss of a teenager stabbed to death on Friday night.

Ahmed Beker, 19, died at the scene in Paddington Green, London, despite paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance trying to save him.

His uncle, James Beker, 52, lost his own son Josiph to stabbing in 2019 just 100m from Friday night's tragedy outside KFC in Edgeware Road.

He told MyLondon: "We will never be healed from it.

He broke down in tears when he spoke about his nephew, saying: "We are not in the war.

"How can they do this? How can they carry a knife to kill people?

"It’s unbelievable."

"I’m so shocked and devastated. It's hurting me. It reminds me what happened. It’s the same thing again.

"My brother is devastated. I’m scared for him.

"He can’t get this. He doesn’t understand what’s happened. He won’t believe it."

A murder investigation has now been launched by the Metropolitan Police.

Through tears, James described Ahmed as an unassuming young man.

He continued: "He was humble, he was kind. He never had a loud voice. He was a quiet guy. Whatever I told him something he'd just say: ‘Okay uncle, okay uncle.’

"He never took the piss of people or annoying them.

"He was so quiet."

James also described the horrific moment he heard about Ahmed's murder.

He said: "One of my relatives called me. To say my brother's son was stabbed to death.

"I started running. He was surrounded by ambulances, police. I couldn’t reach him.

"I only saw the paramedics try to save him but afterwards they covered it, to stop us seeing."

James continued: "My brother won’t believe it.

"Like me. I always lie to myself. That my son is somewhere. That’ll we see each other once again.

"I don’t look at Josiph's pictures. His pictures in my mobile phone. I’m scared to see them. I won’t believe it.

"I’m telling my brother, don’t see his picture.

"We will never be healed from it."
