Devastated family's tribute to ‘outstanding’ teen who died after crash near Loch Ness

A devastated family has paid tribute to a teenage boy has tragically lost his fight for life in hospital after being hit by a car near Loch Ness.

Edward Bush was left in a critical condition after being knocked down on the A82 near Lochend on Thursday, June 3, alongside two 16-year-old girls.

Despite the best efforts of medics at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, the 16-year-old could not be saved.

Police confirmed his tragic death on Saturday.

One of the girls involved in the smash remains in a ‘critical condition’ while the other youngster has been treated and released.

Edward’s heartbroken family, from Henley-on-Thames, have paid tribute to the much loved brother and son.

They said: “Edward will be missed so much by so many, as he was a truly outstanding young man with such an incredible and bright future ahead of him.

“He will never be forgotten and will remain eternally loved and adored by his brothers, parents, family, and friends.”

A police probe into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing after a white Audi Q3 ploughed into the trio earlier this week.

Road Policing Sergeant Angus Macleod said: "Our enquiries into this fatal crash are ongoing and it's important we establish exactly what happened.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken to police to come forward. I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage which could help with our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 2448 of Thursday, 3 June, 2021.
