Devastated family of man who died after van crashed into East Lothian home pay tribute

A man who died tragically passed away after crashing into a home at Abbey Toll near Haddington, East Lothian on Saturday night has been named as William French, known as Billy.

At around 8pm, emergency services raced to the incident on the A199 after a Vauxhall Combo van hit a house, but sadly the 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The devastated family of William have paid tribute and described him as a "much loved son, brother and uncle" who would be "sorely missed" by his loved ones

In a statement, his family said: "Billy was a much-loved son, brother and uncle who will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

"The family would like to be left to grieve in private at this difficult time."

No one from within the home was injured in the crash.

The home where the vehicle crashed been fenced off with traffic cones surrounding the cordon.
