'Devastated' colleagues pay tribute to 'dedicated' Katie

A Merseyside care home paid an emotional tribute to one of its former employees.

Care assistant Katie Davenport died in hospital on Saturday, September 17, 13 days after falling from a fire escape at Hey Amigos nightclub in Southport. The 23-year-old was previously described as "dedicated" and "work-driven" by her heartbroken sisters in a touching tribute released by the ECHO yesterday.

Now Promenade Care Home, where Katie worked as a carer, has paid its respects, saying she will be "sadly missed by all". In a statement released to the ECHO, the Southport care home said: "Management staff and all residents at the Promenade Care Home would like to express their sincere condolences to Katie's family at this sad time.

"Katie was a valued member of staff; Katie was one of the most caring dedicated carers we have had the pleasure of working with. Staff and residents and their families here at the Promenade are devastated by the loss of Katie.

"Katie always had a smile and was dancing around the home to residents’ amusement, every shift was fun when Katie was around. She is going to be sadly missed by all at the Promenade Care Home."

The tribute was made as balloons were released tonight (Thursday, September 22) in Katie's memory. Family and friends gathered in Princes Park, next to Brewers Fayre in Southport, to release green balloons.
