'Devastated' best friend pens emotional letter to Leeds nightclub drug death victim

An 18-year-old girl has paid a heartwarming tribute to her 'best friend' who died after a suspected drug overdose at a club in Leeds.

Courtney Chamberlain, who lived in Pudsey, collapsed at The Warehouse in Leeds city centre in the early hours of Monday, August 26.

She was quickly transferred to Leeds General Infirmary by paramedics, but she sadly died a short time later.

Friends and family have laid floral tributes outside The Warehouse - and now her best friend has opened up about their loving relationship in a touching message.

Katie Westby, who met Courtney six years ago, visited the nightclub following her tragic death and left a bunch of flowers along with an emotional letter.

'We've shared so many memories together'

It read: "To my best friend Courtney, words can't explain how devastated and heartbroken I am that you have sadly passed away. You were one of the most loveliest, caring, beautiful inside and out person I have ever met and known.

"We've shared so many memories together throughout these six years, from getting drunk on one bottle of Lambrini in the park, being in Wakefield, seeing Justin Bieber together and planning our future with him.

"If I have learned anything from this, it is that time is precious and I will always remember the memories we shared."

Katie left the card for Courtney outside The Warehouse. The nightclub has put out a message to reiterate their 'zero policy on drugs' in the venue as it continues to work with West Yorkshire Police to establish the circumstances around the youngster's death.
