Devaroe Lawrence, Olivier Vernon fined for penalties vs. 49ers

Browns reserve defensive tackle Devaroe Lawrence has been fined over $10,000 for his facemask penalty against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.

The NFL announced the fine on Saturday, with the amount pegged at $10,527 for the play. It was flagged for a personal foul during the 49ers second drive of the game when Lawrence grabbed fullback Kyle Juszczyk’s facemask as he tackled him at the line of scrimmage.

It’s not the only fine levied against any Browns players from Week 5, but it is the first career fine earned by Lawrence. Olivier Vernon was also fined the same amount for slapping Jimmy Garoppolo in the helmet during an end-around in the game:

The Browns continue to lead the league in net yards lost to penalties.
