Detroit’s Matthew Stafford missing first game in years

Former Georgia Bulldog QB Matthew Stafford is known for his toughness, but he isn’t being clear by the team’s medical staff ahead of their game against the Chicago Bears. Stafford is struggling through a hip and back injury.

Here’s what the Lions GM had to say about his status:

Stafford has been outstanding this season. He has 19 TDs versus just five interceptions on the season and is throwing for over 300 yards per game. The Lions are 3-4-1, but it’s not Stafford’s fault.

Stafford had started 136 games in a row before this week. The Lions and Bears are both desperate to win this week, so they can stay in the NFC Wildcard hunt.

Stafford’s wife, Kelly Stafford commented on his injury via Instagram:

Stafford will hopefully be able to start a new streak next week. The Lions face the Cowboys next Sunday.
