Detroit Red Wings have 4th game postponed, this time at New York Islanders

The Detroit Red Wings found out Tuesday afternoon they would not be traveling to New York after all, because their Wednesday game had been postponed.

It marks the fourth time the Wings have had a game postponed because of COVID-19. They have just come out of a weeklong shutdown, and have not played since defeating the New Jersey Devils on Dec. 18.

Coach Jeff Blashill found out shortly before the team's 2:30 p.m. practice when general manager Steve Yzerman called with the news.

The Wings (15-13-3) already had Monday's game at the New York Rangers postponed, in addition to Dec. 20 at home against the Colorado Avalanche and Dec. 23 at the Minnesota Wild.

The Wings are now preparing to play Friday on New Year's Eve when they are scheduled to host the Washington Capitals.
