Detroit police chief to Chicago cops: Top our dance moves

May 26--So, Chicago, is it on?

In a video that's gone viral, Detroit's uniformed police officers show off their best moves -- from break dancing to the Nae Nae to the Roger Rabbit -- as part of a national Running Man dance-off.

Viewed more than 6 million times, the four-minute video of officers, and others, busting a move to Ghost Town DJ's 1990s song "My Boo" is punctuated by Detroit police Chief James Craig issuing a challenge to Chicago, Cincinnati and Philadelphia police to top that.

In a final move, an officer does the equivalent of a mic drop, using -- you guessed it -- a doughnut.

On Thursday, Chicago police offered a vague response when asked whether they'd accept the challenge.

"After seeing the fancy footwork of our friends in Detroit, we were certainly impressed, but we have some work to do to dust off our dancing shoes," police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in an emailed statement. "For now, we'll leave the title to them. But let's not lose sight. We're in if they want a deep dish pizza throwdown!"

Cincinnati's definitely in.

The Running Man challenge took off after college basketball teams participated in the social media craze, which has now spread to police departments across the country.

It seems like it'd be a no-brainer, especially when Chicago is home to dance troupes like the Joffrey Ballet. And let's not forget, our mayor studied ballet and even was captured on video shaking his hips to "Blurred Lines" during a Robin Thicke performance at the Taste of Chicago a few years ago.
