SALT LAKE CITY _ The Utah Jazz stopped playing around after halftime Monday night.
Trailing by one at halftime to the Detroit Pistons, the Jazz used a 16-2 run at the start of the third quarter to take control of a 104-81 victory at Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The Pistons missing Blake Griffin (knee), Markieff Morris (foot) and Luke Kennard (knee) struggled to score, shooting 38% from the field with only four 3-pointers made.
The Jazz (21-21) was missing point guard Mike Conley (hamstring), but with Donovan Mitchell leading the way with 23 points, he wasn't needed.
The night was another reminder for Pistons fans that the franchise passed on Mitchell in the 2017 NBA draft to select Kennard.
The Pistons (12-22) have dropped the first two games of this trip with games remaining against both L.A. teams, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Andre Drummond scored 15 points, but struggled against the length of Jazz center Rudy Gobert. Drummond was 5-for-16 from the field and committed seven turnovers as he repeatedly tried to beat the Jazz defender off the dribble with the Pistons lacking playmakers.
Drummond did have 13 rebounds, five steals and three blocked shots.
Gobert finished with 13 points, 19 rebounds and three blocked shots. Jordan Clarkson added 20 points.
Derrick Rose led the Pistons with 20 points.
