Detroit Lions Week 9 inactives: David Blough inactive as Matthew Stafford is cleared to play

The Detroit Lions have declared their Game Day inactives for their Week 9 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Lions elected to elevate interior offensive lineman Marcus Martin from the practice squad this week, meaning they enter today’s game with 54-players on their roster. Additionally, because they have kept eight offensive linemen on their active game-day roster, they are now eligible to expand their roster from 46- to 48-players, meaning they only need to declare six players inactive (instead of the traditional seven).

Here are those six players.

With Golladay, Agnew, Walker, and Dahl all ruled out ahead of the game, the Lions only needed to declare two healthy players inactive this week.

With Stafford returning from the reserve/COVID-19 protocols yesterday and passing his final test today, Blough wasn’t needed as the third quarterback option.

The Lions only needed eight offensive linemen active to get the game-day roster boost, so it’s not overly surprising Stenberg is inactive — he has been on most weeks — but what is a bit disappointing is that the team favored Martin over him.
