Detroit Lions reach decision on former UGA football TE Isaac Nauta

On Saturday, Former Georgia tight end Isaac Nauta , a seventh round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, was informed he would not be making the Detroit Lions’ 53 man roster.

Nauta, who was once considered third or fourth round pick, struggled at the NFL Combine, causing him to slide in the draft into the final round.

Nauta supposedly got off to a slow start in spring camp with the Lions, and his struggles continued through the first week of fall training camp. However,   after that rough first week, reports were surfacing that Nauta had hit his stride and was making numerous head-turning plays each day for the Lions.

He did not have a very productive preseason either, which was more so due to the depth the Lions already had at tight end. He did, however, have three drops in 10 targets. For the most part, he was running fourth string at his position.

UPDATE:

Nauta earned a spot on the Lions practice squad, along with former Georgia defensive tackle John Atkins.
