DeTrafford tops out 11-floor St George’s Gardens development

Developer DeTrafford has topped out an 11-floor apartment and house development in Castlefield.

The development is the first to be built by its in-house construction team DeTrafford Construction.

The development, due for completion in May 2020, will comprise of 138 one and two-bedroom apartments, with each apartment having its own private winter garden, the developer said.

John Currie, DeTrafford head of construction, said: “St George’s Gardens is our first self-delivered construction project and one that we are most proud of.

“Not only is it ahead of program, there is an exemplar health and safety record on the project with a real focus on quality assurance.”

The developer said topping out was a “great milestone” for the second development in its “Castlefield masterplan”.

The masterplan includes includes the provision of 1,430 homes, a public square, courtyards, tree-lined walkways and 40,000 sq ft of commercial space, which reaches from the edge of St George’s Church to Hulme Hall Road.

Work completed at Roof Gardens in last year, while two further developments, City Gardens and Sky Gardens, are due for completion in 2020.
