Detector dog Sam helped Revenue officers find cannabis worth an estimated €94,000 hidden in a parcel at Portlaoise mail centre.

And in a separate seizure yesterday, officials found 6kgs of the illegal stimulant Khat in a package originating from Kenya.

Revenue chiefs revealed that a whopping 4.7kgs of herbal cannabis was discovered in a parcel sent from Canada, which was declared as "clothing".

Both packages were heading for addresses in Dublin city.

A Revenue spokesman said: "Investigations are on-going with a view to prosecutions.

"These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting drug importations.
