Detectives probe savage knife attack in Paisley

Detectives are probing a savage attack in Paisley which left a man with five knife wounds.

The victim aged 52 was discovered bleeding from his lacerations in the town’s Thrushcraig Crescent early this morning.

Police responded to an emergency alert from the Scottish Ambulance Service at around 2.35am on Saturday following reports of the incident where a man has been victim of the attack.

The man, who has not been identified by police, suffered injuries to his arms and torso in the onslaught.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital by ambulance where he received treatment for his slash wounds, which are described as not being life threatening.

CID in Paisley are treating the incident as a serious assault and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross, leading the inquiry, said: “We are asking anyone who may have seen or head this incident to come forward and contact us.

“The man was subject to a serious assault involving the use of a bladed weapon and he was left with lacerations to his arms and body.

“Anyone with information about this attack is urged to contact police in Paisley.”

Cops have been carrying out door to door inquiries in the area, canvassing householders for details, checking public space CCTV for images, and examining the crime scene.

The victim has also been discharged after treatment.

Residents with information are being asked to contact police in Paisley on their non emergency 101 contact number.
