Detectives called in as man, 31, dies at work

A man has died after he was injured at an industrial centre.

The 31-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, on Merton Road, in St Helens after officers were called to a reports of "an incident at an industrial premises."

Emergency services were called at about 4.15pm on Friday after the man was injured on site.

The force said it is investigating the circumstances of his death.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "Emergency services were called to the premises on Merton Street at around 4.15pm, to reports a man had been injured at the site.

"He was later pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

"An investigation into the circumstances of his death is being carried out by detectives and the Health and Safety Executive.

"The man’s next of kin have been informed and a police family liaison officer is providing them with support at this difficult time."
