Detectives appeal for information after man attacked by thugs with blade

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following a serious assault in Motherwell.

At around 5pm, on Friday, June 26, a 49-year-old man was in Calder Park, sitting by the water, when he was approached by two men.

The men were talking to him and then they attacked him with a bladed weapon.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw where he was treated for his injuries. He has since been released.

There is limited information on the suspects at this stage.

One is white, around 5 ft 8 inches in height, with a slim build and short, dark coloured hair. The second suspect is white, around 5 ft. 6 inches in height, with a stocky build and dark coloured hair.

Detective Constable Alison Thomson said: “We are unsure what the motive is for this attack. I am appealing for the other people who were in Calder Park around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.

“Perhaps you saw the men approach the victim or saw the two suspects run off. If you have any information or details which could assist our investigation, please do get in touch.

“Any small piece of information could be significant as we continue our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at Wishaw Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 3096, of 26 June, 2020.

Anyone who wishes to pass on information and remain anonymous can do so through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
