Details surrounding Shamar Stephen’s contract with Vikings

On Monday, it was reported that the Vikings signed defensive tackle Shamar Stephen.

It’s Stephen’s second stint with the Vikings.

On Tuesday, we got some clarity on what the contract will look like per Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune. It will be a three-year, $12.45 million with $6 million guaranteed.

Before the signing, the Vikings had about $9.29 million in cap space. After, they should have around $6.96.

Prior to this deal, Stephen’s career earnings equaled just more than $6 million, so this is a nice payday for the 28-year-old.

Stephen will be replacing Sheldon Richardson, who will sign a big deal with the Cleveland Browns.

Last season, Stephen finished with 25 tackles and two sacks with the Seahawks. The 2014 seventh-round pick graded as Pro Football Focus‘ 98th graded interior defenders out of a possible 112 players.
